2006 Kings Ridge Pinot Noir
87 Points – Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar (May 2008)
"Light red. Spicy berries rhubarb and cracked pepper on the nose, with a whiff
of reduction. Airs out to offer light bodied, sweet strawberry and cherry flavors,
tangy acidity and good finishing grip. A fat-free, tangy rendition of pinot that
would be good with a light chill." |

"Light and appealing for its ripe plum and peppery spice flavors, finishing crisp and lingering gently. Drink now." |

2006 King's Ridge Oregon Pinot Noir
88 Points - Burghound
"An expressive nose of ripe cranberry, raspberry and cherry aromas with hints of briar and underbrush that are also picked up by the supple, fresh, detailed and attractively balanced light to middle weight flavors that culminate in a tangy, bright, clean and crisp finish. This is really quite pretty and fashioned in an understated style. It’s not big or dramatic or even especially complex but it’s enjoyable and there is no finishing warmth." |

2006 King's Ridge Oregon Pinot Noir
Best Wines Under $25 - Oregon Pinot Noir Club
"This was the second label of Rex Hill, which was sold off
after some years of decline in that early-era producer. The new
owner of the label is Ryan Harms, who spent time learning to
make wine at Torii Mor and Bergstrom. With this wine, he is seeking
to resurrect the King's Ridge label and make some new friends.
I predict success. This is a blue-and-black fruited wine with
scads of flavor, character, and really good mid-palate layering.
The finish is long, too. With many "basic" pinots now
above $20, this could have a $25 price tag. Ryan's brand building
is to our benefit, however, and this crowd-pleaser is a steal." -

2006 Kings Ridge Pinot Noir
84 Points - Wine Enthusiast (February 2008)
Simple and tart, this is a clean,
no frills style that opens with apple and cranberry fruit
flavors, matching acids and a light mouthfeel. The flavors
are a bit stripped, offering neither detail nor finesse,
but at $17, it's perfectly fine. |

2006 Kings Ridge Oregon Pinot Gris
88 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"From cooler Willamette Valley vineyards, this pleasing Pinot Gris keeps a juicy mix of fresh fruit flavors right up front. Pear, pineapple and grapefruit do a little Snoopy dance in your mouth, buoyed with balanced acidity and a hint of residual sugar. Round and full, it's a generous and quite appealing style." |

2006 Kings Ridge Riesling
87 Points – Stephen Tanzer’s International
Wine Cellar (April 2008)
Bright straw. Candied lemon and lime
aromas are brightened by dusty minerals. Medium-bodied citrus
and apple flavors are moderately concentrated and carry through
a refreshingly bitter finish. An easygoing, off-dry style that
will go well with salads or light pasta dishes. |

2006 Kings Ridge Oregon Riesling
89 Points and Best Buy - Wine Enthusiast
"This Riesling is right on the borderline of dry/off-dry
(just under one percent RS), but the crisp acids underlying it
keep the flavors bright and spicy. The fruit comes from cooler
Willamette Valley vineyard sites, and has been fermented in stainless
steel and aged on its lees, yielding a wine that is thick and
creamy. It’s as sappy as a fresh peach, and finishes with
crisp peach-skin phenolics. All in all, this is a surprising
wine, neither simple nor plain, but full-flavored in the comforting
style that seems almost to have vanished from the Northwest." |

2005 Kings Ridge Oregon Pinot Noir
87 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"This is a mix of grapes from Willamette and Umpqua Valley vineyards. Light and earthy, it has a classic style that echoes a village Burgundy, only with the distinctive hint of tomato leaf that typifies less expensive Oregon Pinot's. There's tart raspberry fruit as well, whiffs of plum and cherry, and overall it packs a lot of interest into its moderately-priced frame."

2005 Kings Ridge Oregon Pinot Gris
TWO STARS - San Francisco Chronicle
"A floral, pear and peach nose with a bit of tutti-frutti
leads to fairly good
weight on the palate, which has sweet, uncomplicated,
ripe pear flavors. While this is a clean, balanced wine, it finishes
with a touch of sweetness." |

vanilla-scented blackberry and raspberry flavors, which echo
nicely on the supple finish." |

2001 Kings Ridge Oregon Pinot Noir
87 Points - Stephen Tanzer’s
International Wine Cellar
"Good bright, deep red. Fresh raspberry, cherry and mint
on the nose. Juicy, fresh and a bit bound-up with modest complexity,
but good texture and sweetness … Finishes with firm but
fine tannins, a bit of unabsorbed acidity and good length. A
rare value in Oregon Pinot Noir." |

2000 Kings Ridge Oregon Pinot Noir
89 Points, Top 100 Best Buys -
Wine & Spirits
"The color is bright raspberry, the flavors as cool as rain
on slate. This pinot noir offers some toasty complexity on a
light frame, and though it finishes sweet as raspberry sorbet,
that finish is completely clean. It should grow more intriguing
over the coming year, a fine accompaniment to salmon soufflé." |
